Burning Hearts

Is it just me? Has anyone else noticed the increase in mass shootings and senseless violence? In a three week time span, three incidents took place in various parts of the country resulting in the loss of many lives. Some of the shootings were racially motivated while others the result of mental illness. Also there’s repeated reports of police brutality and negligence. Life is so fragile. In a blink, it’s so casually taken away. A seven year old killed as a result of road rage. An employee never returning home to his family after a long day at work. A customer running into the store for a quick afternoon snack. Each life mattered, but cut short. Do you see the individual or simply the numbers? Does your heart burn for them?

Jesus sees the one. He bled and died so that none should perish. He desires for everyone to come to Him. One day very soon, He’s returning for the church. Now, the devil knows that his time is short. There are signs all around indicating these are the last days. Even though the pandemic is coming to an end, I don’t believe things will go back to the way they were before. The world will become darker as humanity grows wicked. As the Bible says in Romans, men will invent new ways of doing evil. Yet, herein lies an opportunity for the church.

As the world around us grows strangely dim, we will shine bright. God is raising up a standard. Those who worship Him must do so not only in word but also in deed. There is no longer the option of straddling the fence for a chasm lies betwixt both sides. The Lord is coming back for a church unspotted with the things of the world. Our lives should be a testament that we’ve been with Jesus. Not only will we shine through our lifestyle, but also through our inner peace. Despite the chaos in the world, we can rest in God. He will provide our every need. He will protect us from every plot of the devil. As a result, our family, friends, and coworker will look to us for answers. They’ll inquire the source of our hope. But will you be ready to answer them?

The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. So what can we do? First, we can pray. It truly works! We can pray for our nation and those in authority. We can pray that God expose every plan of the enemy and nullify them. We can ask Him to send people across our paths needing to hear the truth. Secondly, we must let our lives reflect Jesus. As the world grows more evil, so will the allure of temptation. The popular opinion seen as right, while the truth viewed as being close minded. Yet, when we go against the grain, it will draw those who are hungry for God. So, let’s continue to illuminate the world around us.

Be encouraged! :)
