The other day I was listening to a marriage podcast by Ryan and Selena Frederick. (Yes, I listen to marriage podcasts. So often, they give great nuggets that I can store away for later.) Ryan made a statement that was really profound. He said, “God is always faithful despite whether or not you perceive Him to be”. How easily we forget God’s faithfulness? Circumstances of life can cause us to doubt God even though He’s delivered us in the past. In this blog, I’ll focus on one aspect of God’s faithfulness: healing.
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock (and by rock, I mean within a deep cavern underneath the earth’s core), you know that the coronavirus has become quite the media scare. It’s so easy to get caught up in all the hype. Just the other day I found myself drifting off into worry. Now, my immune system is pretty rock solid considering all the germs that I’m in contact with on a daily basis. (For those who don't know, I work at an urgent care facility.) Ever the enneagram two, I was concerned for those around me. I didn’t want to pass the virus to them. So, I went over into the deep end and became hypervigilant. Then, I heard the voice of the Lord speak to me. He said, “Am I not bigger than the coronavirus? Have I not healed you before?” Wow! There it was…the truth of the nature of God. He is a healer. Since God can NOT change, we can rest assured that He is the same today.
Our healing was bought at a high price on Calvary. Jesus took on our sickness in exchange for His healing. But we still live in a fallen world. Our physical bodies are constantly bombarded with all sorts of things. Graciously, God has given us so many promises to stand on. The Bible says, “He will take away sickness from among you.” Part of being a child of God is that we get exclusive benefits. “A thousand may fall at your side” but it will not come near you. God has set His hedge around you. Even though the world maybe falling apart, we do not have to fear. We can stand on His promises. We can remember His goodness. How many times has He healed you before? How many times has He shown up in your time of need? Why should this be any different? He has never failed, and He can NOT start now. In this, we can have peace. The world will be so bewildered at our peace that they will wonder about our God.
So, I have a challenge for you. Take a moment and recall all the times God has healed you (no matter how big or small). Look up scriptures that you can rely on. Let them be a constant reminder to you. God is always faithful. His promises are sure.
Side note: If you have a testimony, then feel free to leave a comment or shoot me an email. I’d love to rejoice with you.
Be encouraged! 😊
