There are hidden nuggets in everyday things. Recently, I watched the movie, I Still Believe. It details the story of Jeremy Camp and his first wife, Melissa. If you get the chance, it is definitely a must-see film. Their story is such a beautiful reminder that God can redeem the most painful situations. I’ll refrain from ruining the movie for those who will view it, however; here are some take-away points that I’ll share.
One of the biggest lessons from the movie is God knows what is best. The Bible says He knows the end from the beginning. This can be such a hard concept for our finite, human minds to comprehend since we have a linear perspective. God sees the past, present, and future even unto all eternity. At times, we petition Him for a particular job, or the romantic interest of a certain person and His response is no. Herein lies an opportunity. We must trust that God has our best interest at heart. He’s aware of the result of that request. Ever the loving Father, He cares too much to give us everything without restraint. Not only is He caring, but God also wants to bring His purposes into the world. When we put our trust in Him, we allow Him to use our lives in the grand scheme of His plan.
Another point to note is that God is always with us, even in the bad times. Sometimes the storms of life are so violent that we can’t see God. We are tempted to blame Him. Our minds question His goodness. “How could He let something like this happen?” one may ask. Though challenging, we cannot let the problem cause us to doubt the character of God. We must be established in the fact that He is good. This truth will become the lens in which we see our situation. With our eyes fixed on Him, our perspective of the situation changes. We may not fully understand this side of heaven, but we can praise Him in the storm.
As Christians, we have hope despite the severity of the darkness around us. When we believe God is with us and cares for us, then we can rest in Him. He is our Anchor in the storm. Though life becomes difficult, we know that He will see us through. No matter what happens, we win. My prayer is that I’ll never forget. That I’ll always praise Him even in the storm. Will you?
Be encouraged! 😊
